Seattle, WA — May 6, 2019 – This Tuesday May 9 at 3:00 p.m., Governor Inslee, legislative champions, a diverse coalition of supporters, and community groups will celebrate Washington’s 2019 legislative action on climate change that puts in place groundbreaking measures to reduce carbon emissions, decrease pollution, and increase public health.. Washington state’s landmark climate action this year is the result of many years of work and is the first significant legislative effort in reducing carbon emissions in over a decade. The suite of five policies includes a strong focus on boosting jobs and strengthening social equity, and demonstrates collective agreement around the growing urgency to address the economic, public health, and environmental impacts of climate change.

Rainier Vista, a community of 895 households located at the north end of the Rainier Valley, is a vibrant mixed-income community consisting of of quiet streets, open spaces, P-patch gardens, an Urban Farm, parks, and playgrounds. The community’s original design included prioritizing energy-efficiency, with every home in the community required to have at least three-star or higher Built Green rating.
