About Native Vote Washington

Native Vote Washington seeks to increase the political empowerment, electoral awareness, and engagement of Indigenous peoples throughout the state of Washington. We work to defend, support, and advance Tribal sovereignty for all Tribes. We envision a robust statewide organizing and communications channel across Tribal nations and beyond. This network will be capable of mobilizing Tribal members to play a significant role in future elections, advocacy, and activism.

Native Vote Washington was started in 2008. It grew gradually, increasing members and influence statewide. Washington Conservation Action (WCA) partnered with Native Vote Washington and became its fiscal sponsor in 2022. In 2025, Native Vote Washington became an official program of WCA.

In 2024, Native Vote Washington (NVW) invested $1.2 million into a comprehensive field strategy, branded “Voting is Good Medicine” (ViGM), to engage with Tribal citizens across the state. To date, this marks the largest investment of its kind in Washington. The goal of this field strategy was to register new Native voters. It also sought to educate Native voters about Native candidates and electoral issues that would impact Indian Country, Native voters’ needs about voting logistics. The goal was to drive strong turnout of Native voters at the polls.
