The City of Seattle is developing a policy to transition commercial and multi-family buildings off of fossil fuels. This policy, known as Building Emissions Performance Standards (BEPS), sets timelines for different types of buildings to transition off of polluting fossil fuels over the coming years in order to address the climate crisis and protect public health and safety.

Additionally, City leaders are collaborating with Unite Here Local 8 and other labor organizations to create the Living Hotels policy, which sets strong environmental and social justice standards for new hotel construction in Seattle.
