Position Summary

Washington Conservation Action is looking for a Development Associate to join our fundraising team. An ideal candidate will be excited to learn and grow as a fundraising professional. This role supports Washington Conservation Action’s fundraising team and is responsible for maintaining the donor database, processing gifts, and acknowledging contributions. The Development Associate is supervised by the Foundation Relations Senior Manager. They will work closely with all members of the development team and Salesforce Administrator to make sure that the organizational database is kept accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities

The Development Associate’s primary responsibilities include maintaining donor data, gift entry and acknowledgment, and streamlining development systems. The key to this work is a keen attention to detail, a commitment to improving systems, and an ability to develop creative solutions to problems. This position also works to uphold values based and equitable fundraising practices within the organization.

  • Serve as the lead on gift entry and gift acknowledgment.
  • Develop experience with fundraising best practices and development tools.
  • Support reconciliation between development team and accounting team.
  • Support Salesforce Administrator to improve CRM (customer relationship management) database processes, including data cleanup, troubleshoot process issues, and other database projects.
  • Support data assessment and reporting to assess current performance and strategies.
  • Assist with donor research and the tracking of research related data.
  • Participate in a racial equity team.

Required Skills

  • Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or commensurate work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and six months to one year of demonstrated experience with data management (volunteer or internship experience is applicable).
  • A commitment to an ongoing anti-racist learning journey, both personally and professionally, and a strong desire to be a productive member of a team that is deeply engaged in the work of building power with Black, Brown, and Indigenous people.
  • Curiosity around improving systems and solving problems.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team.

Desired Skills

  • Six months to one year of experience working within development or fundraising (volunteer or internship experience is applicable).
  • Knowledge of and experience with community centric fundraising and/or values-based fundraising. 
  • Understanding of managing data in Constituent Relationship Management platform (Salesforce preferred).
  • Familiarity with development tools including credit card processors, mass email marketing platforms, event management, or large-scale data management.
  • Experience leading donor research or equivalent research skills. 
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full time, non-exempt position with a salary of $56,000. We also offer a generous benefits package including 100% employer paid medical and dental insurance premiums for a gold level health plan, 401k plan and organizational match of up to 3% of your annual salary, a Flexible Spending Account, four weeks of paid vacation, sick leave, thirteen paid holidays per year, an unlimited ORCA transit pass if you are in the ORCA service region, $1,000 per year for professional development and if you work for five consecutive years you are eligible for a two-month paid sabbatical. Location Information

This position is hybrid with a minimum of 40% of time in the Seattle office. A hybrid remote agreement is required. Washington Conservation Action’s office is in downtown Seattle. Our team of more than 40 works in a flexible hybrid model, with staff in the office two days a week for collaboration and celebration. This job requires frequent sitting. Must be able to conduct business in English, though fluency in other languages is welcomed. For remote work, employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work during scheduled work hours.
