Position Summary

The Finance Senior Manager works closely with the VP of Administration and CEO to support Washington Conservation Action’s financial, administrative, and operational activities. Through process improvements, implementation of internal controls, and financial analysis, the Finance Senior Manager seeks to improve the financial position and sustainability of the organization. The Finance Senior Manager supervises the 501c3 and 501c4 Administrative Associates in their day-to-day functions, including bookkeeping and other administrative support. Additionally, the Finance Senior Manager provides analytical support to various stakeholders such as management, the Board of Directors, and programmatic staff.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Supervise C3 and C4 Administrative Associates and provide guidance on how to enter data into organizational books in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) standards
  • Serve as liaison between organizational CPA and WCA staff
  • Make continuous improvements to internal accounting systems, procedures, and policies 
  • Oversee decision making related to bookkeeping anomalies
  • Build and maintain a cash flow forecasting system and oversee the day-to-day management of cash flow to maximize donor impact
  • Work with staff to develop qualitative and quantitative measures of program impact and present this information to management and the Board of Directors
  • Manage tracking of fiscal sponsorship agreements, timelines, and reports for fiscally sponsored projects
  • Assistance with creating the annual budget

HR & Administration

  • Develop new and more efficient methods to communicate financial information to employees
  • Work with Administrative Associates to ensure timely and accurate payroll submissions
  • Ensure organizational insurance and tax filings are adequately maintained and/or filed 
  • Assist with annual audit under supervision of VP of Administration

Financial Systems

  • Implement a vendor management and oversight program

Organizational

  • Participate in a racial equity team and work with internal teams on equity projects within the organization
  • Assist with organizational events as needed, including recruitment and in-person attendance and support, such as the annual fundraising event

Required Skills

  • 3-5 years of nonprofit bookkeeping
  • Experience working with CPA and with organizational auditors
  • Experience with bookkeeping related tax forms, including IRS Form 990
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Commitment to environmental protection and principles of tribal sovereignty and racial, social, and economic justice
  • Experience filing government reports and paperwork such as tax filings, annual Secretary of State filings and similar documents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Desired Skills

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with imperfect information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full time, non-exempt position with a salary of $75,000. We also offer a generous benefits package including 100% employer paid medical and dental premiums, 401k plan and organizational match of up to 3% of your annual salary, a Flexible Spending Account, four weeks of paid vacation, 8 hours of sick leave accrued per month, 13 paid holidays per year, an unlimited ORCA transit pass, $1000 per year for professional development, work from home reimbursement, and if you work for five consecutive years you are eligible for a two-month paid sabbatical. Location Information

This position is hybrid (minimum of twice a week in the Seattle office) and we will not consider someone outside the transit area as the duties of this position require this person to be in the office at least twice a week. This job will involve occasional travel to in-person meetings and staff gatherings at the discretion of the supervisor.

This job requires frequent sitting. Must be able to conduct business in English, though fluency in other languages is welcomed. For remote work, employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work during scheduled work hours. COVID-19

The organization follows all requirements of local health authorities. We work in hybrid remote work model with staff working from home in addition to in-office time for collaboration and celebration. We maintain strict safety protocols while in our office. All staff who come to the office must be immunized against COVID-19.
