WEC is committed to collaborating and expanding the environmental movement and utilizing policy expertise and innovative and strategic techniques for meaningful change for all people in the state. We accomplish these goals through facilitation, sharing information resources, collaboration, providing in-depth analysis, and training for leaders and the public.

Local government

Local governments are essential to improve the health of our environment because they are responsible for implementing laws and policies and engaging and representing their residents. At the local level, WEC seeks to support our local partners, share opportunities and resources from across the state with our local leaders, and ensure environmental progress is happening on the ground in our communities.

State Government

For more than 50 years, WEC has been a respected leader and helped pass many of the state’s foundational environmental laws. You can find our staff in Olympia during the state legislative session supporting the Environmental Priorities Coalition and Partnership Agenda, providing policy and budget expertise on critical environmental efforts, and increasing access for our activists through tools like the Hot List, bill trackers, and lobby days.

Federal Government

WEC works closely with our partners at the League of Conservation Voters to make sure that federal decisions are connected to the solutions communities want and to improve outcomes on the ground.
