About Me
Sonia’s (she/her) encounters with extreme weather, habitat destruction, and natural disasters inspired her lifelong goal of supporting tangible and equitable environmental protections. After graduating from the University of California Santa Cruz with a degree in Plant Sciences and Sustainability Studies, she developed a passion for organizing as a member of the Sunrise Movement prior to joining Washington Conservation Action as a Community Engagement and Campaign Intern.
As an organizer, Sonia is passionate about supporting others in transforming their passion into action. She is inspired by WCA’s volunteers and interns, youth leaders within the environmental justice movement, and her peers in the Evergreen Workers Union.
Outside of work, Sonia is pursuing a Master of Public Administration at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance with a focus on Environmental Policy & Management and Public Leadership, Management, & Decision-making. In her spare time, she loves trying new vegan recipes and restaurants, listening to music, and spending time outdoors with her dog.
