The unique trip was featured in last fall’s Green Gala Live Auction. Chris Mendoza was the lucky Golden Ticket winner who chose this trip generously donated by Tom and Janice Huseby and skippered by volunteer crew: Brad Baker and Tim Larson.
Washington’s weather also participated by providing sunshine and perfect winds for the sails. Guests aboard the boat took turns at the wheel and enjoyed spectacular view of the Olympics, Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier.
This once in a lifetime trip would not have been possible if not for the generosity of Tom Huseby, Brad Baker and William Dietrich.
Special guest and New York Times Best Selling Author William Dietrich entertained; sharing stories of his travels writings and gave out first edition signed copies of his books. Captain Tom Huseby also told stories of sea and the incredible adventures of the Double Take and its crew.
Throughout the day guests filled their bellies with the seemingly endless gourmet meals and snacks prepared by Janice Huseby.
Guests lingered after the sail to say goodbyes, take photos and reflect on the picturesque day, leaving with a sense of appreciation for Washington’s environment and renewed commitment to its protection.
